Graduate Students and Residents

Our lab is a great place to train. We believe the work we do is fun as well as incredibly important. Our research is translational, which means that the questions we ask often come directly from working with patients.  Our goal is to make discoveries that can improve the efficacy and effectiveness of treatments for these patients.

We are surrounded by many like-minded colleagues in Rutgers Brain Health Institute, the Departments of Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, and Neurosurgery. The breadth of the science we do means that students can gain expertise in many widely applicable biomedical and technological skills, such as cutting edge optogenetics, chemogenetics, calcium imaging, animal behavioral testing, neuropsychological testing, and computational image analysis.

The lab is currently accepting rotation students through the graduate programs in Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering and Rutgers Neurosurgery Residency Program. Some ongoing research projects are listed under the research tab. If they sound interesting to you, please reach out to Dr. Sun directly to learn more about them (hai.sun@rutgers.edu)!

Medical and Undergraduate Students

We love to introduce aspiring neuroscientists to cutting edge research. Medical students and Undergraduates are welcome to join in the lab.  For some students, the work in the lab can be counted toward school credits. If you are interested in getting some hands-on experience in small animal brain surgery, techniques in electrophysiology, and digital signal and image processing, please get in touch with Dr. Sun.

Postdocs

Our lab is always interested in helping individuals launch a career in neuroscience and biomedical engineering research. If you think our research is exciting and interesting, feel free to send Dr. Sun your current CV.
